Seimei Tsuji was fond of antique art from an early age, and was close friends with Kenkichi Tomimoto and Hazan Itaya. He built a kiln in Tama City, and aimed to express the aesthetic sense known as bright sabi with his refined style using Shigaraki clay and natural glazes.
