Fascinated by the work of Tamakazo Zoukoku, a lacquer carver from the end of the Edo period who is considered the father of modern lacquer art, he learned lacquer art techniques on his own and was recognized as a Living National Treasure for revolutionizing lacquer art in Japan. Otomaru Kodo is a great Living National Treasure lacquer artist who is a member of the Japan Crafts Council and has been active in Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibitions and other events, and has served as a permanent director and advisor to the association. This is a masterpiece that boasts an overwhelming performance. A persimmon tea set with the words "Kabi ga kuru" (come of good fortune) written on it. It is a very stylish and wonderful piece.
