Born in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Suzuki Goro studied pottery making at the Seto Ceramics Training School and distinguished himself when he was first selected for the Nitten Exhibition in 1962, after which he went on to win numerous awards. While pursuing Momoyama pottery using artisanal wheel techniques and natural materials, he continues to produce highly original works such as "Hawaii Oribe" and "Los Oribe" that are not mere imitations. Narumi Oribe can be seen as a homage to Momoyama pottery by this artist who is a leader in contemporary pottery. Even so, the artist's belief is that it does not end with imitation.
