He was born and raised in a Kyoto pottery studio, so it was only natural that he aspired to work in the Kyoto pottery industry. However, he was inspired by a new direction in pottery at Saga Art College, and now he works in studios in Kyoto and Sasayama. Although his roots are in Kyoto pottery, he has also had close ties with Tamba pottery artists, and aims to create his own unique style of expression.
He also uses several types of clay and wood-fired or electric kilns depending on the piece he is looking for. His kilns are all small, so he fires frequently.
This allows for more trial and error.
