Suzuki Osamu is known as a leading figure in the postwar ceramics world, and a central figure in the avant-garde ceramic group "Soudeisha," which he founded in 1948 with Yagi Kazuo and Yamada Hikaru. His works are characterized by beautiful twists that seem to soar into the heavens. The name "Tansho" by Tachibana Daiki Roshi comes from the phrase "Saihou Tansho ni Mau" (a scene of a colorful phoenix dancing in the vast sky at dawn). "Tachibana Daiki 1899-2005 A monk from the Taisho to Heisei eras. Born December 22, 1899. Rinzai sect. Became a monk in 1921. Became the head priest of Tokuzenji Temple, a subtemple of Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto. Served two terms as the head of the Daitokuji school of religious affairs, was its highest advisor in 1963, and rebuilt Nyoian Temple within Daitokuji Temple in 1973 and became its abbot. Was president of Hanazono University from 1982 to 1986. Died August 25, 2005, aged 105."
