This is a work by Kitade Tojiro, a master of Kutani ware. He was adopted by a Kutani ware kiln owner in Ishikawa Prefecture and began color painting. After studying Japanese painting under Yano Hashimura at the Osaka School of Art, he studied colored porcelain under Tomimoto Kenkichi, who stayed with the Kitade family. He served as a professor at Kanazawa College of Art. In 1968, he received the Art Academy Prize.
