In 2002, he retired and handed over the family headship to his adopted son Kazuo, taking the name "Jihei."
After the death of the 11th head of the Hisada family, Mutekisai Soya, he sought the guidance of the 12th head, Jinyusai Soya, and produced tea ware. His pottery seals include "Kousai", "Makatsu", "Jusui Goseki", and others.
