This is a masterpiece by Kawakita Handeishi, who was born into a wealthy merchant family in Tsu, Ise Province, and was a businessman who held important positions in companies, including as president of the Hyakugo Bank, but who also demonstrated a wide range of artistic talents in calligraphy, painting, tea ceremony, haiku, photography, and more, and was praised as "Rosanjin of the East and Handeishi of the West." The overall distortion of the work gives it a glimpse of Handeishi's unique style.
