Born in Komatsu in 1932, his real name was Yoshida Minoru. In 1978 he received the Issuikai Award at the Issuikai Ceramic Art Exhibition, in 1984 he received the Encouragement Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, in 1992 he received the Takamatsunomiya Memorial Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, in 1995 he received the Japan Ceramic Association Award, in 2000 he received the Holder's Award at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and in 2001 he was recognized as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property "Gold Underglaze" technique (Living National Treasure).
