After graduating from the Department of Design, Crafts, Tokyo School of Fine Arts, he studied under Kato Hachimoe. Later, while working as an assistant to Tomimoto Kenkichi, he mastered the techniques of overglaze porcelain. He established his own coloring technique, "Glow Painting Color," and his skills were so highly praised that he was designated a Living National Treasure for his overglaze porcelain in 1986. Fujimoto Yoshimichi is one of Japan's leading overglaze porcelain artists, and has also worked hard to train the next generation, including as professor and president of Tokyo University of the Arts. This work is a masterpiece that uses Kushiro glaze, which has a high transparency and produces a bluish grass color, and features a powerful peony and a small bird in beautiful harmony.
