Sodeisha was a group of avant-garde potters who played a central role in the postwar Japanese ceramics world. Founded in 1948 by five members - Yagi Kazuo, Kanae Tetsuo, Yamada Hikaru, Matsui Misuke, and Suzuki Osamu - Sodeisha led the Japanese ceramics world for 50 years, despite changes in members. If we were to briefly sum up the achievements of Sodeisha, it would be that through their many years of activity they brought ceramic objects to public recognition and pioneered a world of expression unique to ceramics.
