This work was created by the great ceramic artist Ishiguro Munemaro (1893-1968), who was Japan's first designated Important Intangible Cultural Property Holder (Living National Treasure) along with Tomimoto Kenkichi, Hamada Shoji, and Arakawa Toyozo when the system of Important Intangible Cultural Property Holders was launched in 1955. When you look at this work while also taking into account that it was created by a self-taught artist, you are impressed by the richness of his talent. As it was created during the "Utsuan" period, it is an extremely valuable piece.
