1875-1959 Ceramic artist from the Meiji to Showa periods.
Born on March 6, 1875.
The eldest son of the 4th Shimizu Rokubei.
In 1913, he took over the family business of Kyoto Kiyomizu ware.
He devoted himself to the chemical study of glazes and developed new designs with Western-style painter Asai Tadashi and others, contributing to the modernization of Kyoto ware.
Member of the Academy of Arts.
He died on August 1, 1959.
84 years old.
His childhood name was Kuritaro.
His pen name was Shorei, later Rokuwa.
